Latin America is projected as one of the leading suppliers of food to meet the growing global demand due to its wealth of natural resources and production capacity. According to the Inter Press Service Agency information, the challenge goes through take the opportunity, without neglecting the needs of a region, which still has 66 million homeless, according to the latest data from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. "While the international market is facing difficulties arising from the volatility of prices, speculation and competition from biofuels by the soil, experts consulted were convinced that the region can pass through successfully the challenge", says the article. Varieties of rice, cereals, oilseeds, fruits, dairy, meats, oils, wines, all produced and exported in large volumes every year in Latin America, particularly in the south, avoiding droughts, floods and other weather events linked to climate change. The Chilean Gino Buzzetti, responsible for the Inter-American Institute for cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Buenos Aires, stressed that Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay add 1,000 million tons in production of grains in 72 million hectares, which represents 10% of agricultural land in the world. On the other hand, Buzzetti recalled that the region is an important provider of meat for the table of humanity. In its attempt to chart the future needs, the agronomist engineer Fernando Vilella estimated that for 2030, Asia could feed themselves by owning a 75 to 82% of the food needed for it,, while sub-Saharan Africa barely would have a 15% and the North of Africa and the Middle East by 85%, so that the countries of the American continent - says - "they must feed a unsatisfied market".   [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="630"]Agricultores Corbis[/caption] Source: Actualidad.rt.com
